Fisker Emotion revealed at CES with 400-mile range Jan 9th 2018, 10:38 Henrik Fisker has finally revealed his luxury EV, the Emotion Luxury saloon is Fisker's answer to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but is more coupé-like in profile Fisker has revealed the Emotion electric luxury saloon at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), in production guise.  The only performance statistic is the car's top speed of 161mph, although it's expected that the 400-mile-range EV, which also has four-wheel drive and shares similar dimensions to the Tesla Model S, will closely match Elon Musk's first four-door model for other performance statistics.  The car is built from carbon fibre and aluminium to keep weight down, so it's likely to be a lighter offering than the Model S. The Emotion comes with four or five seats, with four upward-opening 'Butterfly' doors controlled by the driver's smartphone. They can be opened via flush handles on the exterior, too.  Five LiDAR sensors are used on the car, which help it to achieve its level 4 autonomy capability. Fisker says the car's software can process the data received from the sensors to classify objects in real time, bringing down the car's reaction times.  Inside, there are three screens streaming information to the driver - one curved infotainment screen atop the dashboard, one more iPad-like device in the central dashboard beneath it, and one in place of traditional dials. There's also the option of a 27in curved screen in the rear, available on upcoming Chauffeur Edition cars. Interior space looks to be on par with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Connectivity is also likely to be high on the agenda of the new EV four-seater, with multiple inductive charging points on the car's interior. There's no word yet on the connectivity of interfaces between the car and smartphones, however.  In addition to the premium leather interior shown on the reveal car, Fisker will join the growing number of luxury car makers offering a vegan-friendly interior option. First UK cars are due to arrive in 2020, although production starts in 2019, with a North American production location yet to be confirmed. When on sale in the US in 2019, it'll be priced from $129,900 (£96,061 at current exchange rates). UK pricing is yet to be announced, although it's unlikely to stray far from US prices.
