Published on Korean site Top Rider, the future rival to the Range Rover Evoque appears longer and wider than the X1, with a shorter rear overhang and high-set bonnet. The tailgate gives the car a more coupé-like silhouette in contrast to that of the X1. The car's engine line-up is also highlighted in the leaked article. The engines are listed as 189bhp xDrive20i petrol, 187bhp xDrive20d diesel and 228bhp xDrive25d diesel in South Korea. A three-cylinder sDrive18i and four-cylinder xDrive20i, as well as sDrive18d and xDrive18d diesels, are said to be due in that country next year. The X2 gets seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmissions for petrol models and eight-speed Steptronic transmissions for diesel versions, according to the article. Autocar revealed earlier this year that the X2 would get an M-fettled version, but information since has suggested it will adopt the M35i name rather than M40i - as is the trend used by the hot version of the regular 2 Series model. As such, the X2 M35i is expected to use a turbocharged four-pot motor, as opposed to the M240i's 3.0-litre straight-six unit, when it arrives later in the X2's life cycle.
